My name is Simon and I am an intergrative counsellor providing both short and long term therapy to adults online and in person (in Newbury).
I'm an integrative counsellor, blending a person centred approach with psychodynamic theory. I feel these compliment each other and suit how I work. I am a member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework and hold an up to date enhanced DBS.
Throughout my time as a counsellor, I have worked in agencies providing support for those who had experienced homelessness and those who were bereaved. I have also worked with clients who have had low self-esteem, anxiety and anger.
My aim is to provide a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore issues relating to self, work, relationships and any other life events that may leave you feeling confused or stuck. Together we can explore the roots of these problems, in a way that is tailored to your pace and needs.
Counselling is an opportunity for you to begin to understand and process certain aspects of yourself and experiences you have had. My role is to empathically accompany you, share observations with you and to actively listen. Perhaps you feel as though you are drifting through life with no direction or that those around you are too busy to hear what you have to say.
Our sessions together will be a chance for you to be heard and I appreciate this may be daunting if this is your first experience of counselling.
People come to me for help a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling:
Depression
Problems with confidence or self-esteem
Anger management
Issues relating to sexuality
Difficulties at work or in retirement
Problems with family or school life
Feelings of stress or anxiety
Panic attacks
Relationship problems
Grief, loss or bereavement
Problems with addiction
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
Abuse
Sessions are either online (via Zoom) or face to face in Newbury and are 60 minutes long and will, typically, take place weekly. They are £50 and I offer an initial 30 minute session at £25.
Discounts are available for those in keyworker roles and students, please enquire for more information. I work with clients who are seeking short term and long term counselling.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on 07706044709 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
